New Version of Termidesk VDI 4.3 Accelerates Deployment of Virtual Workstations

Uveon – Cloud Technologies (part of The Astra Group) announces a release of a new version of the software package Termidesk VDI 4.3, designed to create an infrastructure of virtual workplaces. The product is in demand among organizations of any scale, as it can be used to establish convenient and safe remote work for staff easily.

Of the new features of the software package, the Termidesk Live component is worth noting first of all. It is a bootable image of the GNU/Linux OS with the pre-installed modules Termidesk-client and Termidesk-viewer. You can download it from a USB storage device or over a network using PXE technology and start using it immediately without installing it on a hard disk.

The new version of Termidesk VDI includes the Virtual Appliance (VA) installation module. This is a VM image with a pre-installed and configured OS Astra Linux 1.7.5, software packages from Termidesk-VDI and a number of additional applications required for Termidesk to work. Thanks to VA, the deployment and commissioning time of Termidesk VDI is significantly reduced, and the number of actions to configure the system is minimized. At the same time, every customer can install VA with a set of functions that is relevant to them, but without forgetting about balancing applications on the data center.

The list of supported virtualization platforms has expanded. Along with PC SV Brest from the Astra Group, it includes other Russian and Open Source solutions. Among the innovations in the graphical interface, it should be noted that when installing Termidesk VDI, you can specify the type of web portal: User, Admin or Universal. Depending on the selected option, one or another set of pages becomes available. In addition, if previously only the virtualization platform could be switched to the "Maintenance" mode, now it is also provided for the workplace fund, since their regular maintenance is very important to ensure reliability, security and efficiency of the system.

Another innovation is a new RDP connection mechanism for interacting with Windows hosts. If enabled, the connection will open through the workplace delivery program Termidesk-viewer. In previous versions of the product, work with RDP was based on MSTSC, the standard Windows terminal service client, but the vendor strives to move away from using foreign components as much as possible and offers an updated implementation. Termidesk-viewer is based on proprietary technology for connecting to VDI hosts on both Windows and Linux. Termidesk-viewer supports RDP, SPICE and other protocols.

Many changes and improvements have been made to Termidesk VDI functionality related to connecting to VDI hosts, management, administration, hardware support and information security. More detailed information is available on the portal "Termidesk Help Center".
