Course towards Universality. New Version of Termidesk 5.0 Has Been Released

Uveon – Cloud Technologies (part of the Astra Group) announces a release of a new version of the Termidesk 5.0 product, designed for building and managing infrastructure Virtual workstations (VDI). This major release promises significant improvements and new features that will expand the functionality of VDI and the application delivery controller.

One of the key innovations in Termidesk 5.0 has become the update of the list of supported protocols. In addition to the already supported SPICE and RDP protocols, the developers have created their proprietary TERA protocol (Termidesk Remote Access Protocol). This is the first domestic remote access protocol to workplaces proposed by a Russian VDI manufacturer. It is currently available in experimental mode, but in the future it is intended to become the main solution in the Termidesk product, replacing a set of OpenSource protocols for remote access.

The developers have also expanded the list of supported virtualization platforms. It includes both Russian solutions and OpenSource platforms. RED Virtualization is among the new supported platforms. Network and storage management capabilities have been added for the VMware vSphere platform, which allows a more flexible approach to configuration and use of solutions for fault-tolerant virtual workplace infrastructure.

Termidesk 5.0 adds features for monitoring and tracking user sessions at all stages of their lifecycle. This makes it possible not only to prevent problems related to security and unauthorized access, but also to optimize the use of resources.

In addition to system monitoring functions, a "Remote Assistant" is integrated into the Termidesk administrator's web portal, which ensures the connection of technical support services. This greatly simplifies and speeds up the process of solving users' technical problems.

The Termidesk Live module, designed to work with thin clients, has received support for application layers. Now users can connect applications without having to install them in an image of an operating system delivered over the network, which increases convenience and flexibility of working with applications in a virtual environment.

Special attention has been paid to security issues in Termidesk 5.0: password encryption was introduced, support for mTLS database connections was implemented, and much more. These measures are aimed at ensuring maximum protection of user data and the infrastructure as a whole.

Along with the innovations, the developers have improved a number of functions introduced in the previous versions of Termidesk, which makes working with the system even more convenient and efficient. The full list of new and updated functions of Termidesk 5.0 is available in the official document on the company's website.

"We are introducing a new version of the Termidesk product, which opens up new opportunities for users in managing virtual workstations and delivering applications. Our team has focused great efforts on implementing functionality that is unique to the Russian market, such as our proprietary remote access protocol TERA, which will help us compete with leading foreign products in terms of functionality in the near future. And in the Russian market, we are confidently moving towards the undisputed leader in the segment of VDI solutions," comments Denis Mukhin, Director of Business Development at Uveon - Cloud Technologies.
