Termidesk VDI 7.0 Confirmed Compatible with the VMmanager Platform
Uveon — Cloud Technologies, the developer of virtual desktop infrastructure and application delivery solutions under the Termidesk brand, has confirmed the compatibility of the Termidesk VDI 7.0 platform with the VMmanager virtualization management platform from ISPsystem (both companies are part of the Astra Group).
The testing covered the key operations required for creating and operating a virtual desktop infrastructure. In particular, the ability to connect VMmanager to Termidesk using accounts with different privilege levels was confirmed. The publication of virtual machine pools from images with the creation of full and linked clones was successfully verified. Also tested were the migration of a pool to a new version of the base image, rollback to a previous version, and pool deletion.
During the tests, specialists verified virtual machine power management operations: power on, power off, reboot, and suspension. The naming mechanisms for virtual machines during pool publication and republishing, as well as their tagging by pool affiliation, performed correctly. Separate testing was conducted on virtual machines running Astra Linux and Microsoft Windows, including the subsequent joining of the newly created machines to FreeIPA and Microsoft Active Directory domains. The testing also covered user scenarios for working with virtual desktops.
Additionally, file transfer to virtual machines in the pool, two-way clipboard operation with text and images, and dual-monitor mode were confirmed. When publishing pools, IP address acquisition from both DHCP and VXLAN pools was successfully tested. The checks were performed for various combinations of client and guest operating systems using the SPICE and TERA protocols.
The compatibility of Termidesk VDI and VMmanager expands customer options when building VDI infrastructure and enables the use of the Termidesk virtual desktop management platform alongside an existing virtualization environment. Such integration simplifies centralized deployment of virtual desktops, management of their lifecycles, and infrastructure scaling.
“Compatibility of a VDI platform with infrastructure components is one of the key concerns for the customer. Here it is important not just to launch a virtual machine, but to ensure a full workstation lifecycle: create a pool, deploy machines from an image, update it, roll back if necessary, manage VM state, while preserving familiar user scenarios. The conducted testing has shown that Termidesk VDI 7.0 and VMmanager can jointly address these tasks,” — commented Sergey Khalyapin, Director of New Market Development and Technology Partners at Termidesk.
“The key outcome of integrating these two products is that large enterprises get a ready-made replacement for imported VDI solutions: work pools are deployed from images, updated, and scaled on the existing VMmanager virtualization platform. This is one of the most advanced integrations on the market — from workstation creation to its lifecycle, everything works out of the box, and we continue to invest in its development,” — noted Natalia Tsaryova, Director of Product at ISPsystem.
